Neer Moru or Spicy Buttermilk

Frothing Neer Moru is ready to be tasted
In my experience this is the best drink that cools our body from inside. Traditionally people used to give this as a first thing for a guest at home in India, because of the hot climatic condition in India. Storing the buttermilk in clay pots is a very natural way to store and serve it. With all the carbonated and bottled drinks prevailing in stores, people seem to have forgot this healthy drink. Neer Moru is the best drink on a hot day. Here's for a healthy summer...

Blend all the ingredients in a juice jar
  1. Add  all the above ingredients to the blender/mixie and blend until the ginger and green chillies are ground to fine pieces for about 2 minutes.
  2. Add 2 cups of water and required amount of salt and blend well for about 3 minutes.

Note:
  1. If you want the buttermilk to be cold add chilled water in step 2 of the preparation.
  2. If you do not like the small pieces of ginger and chilli as surprises when drinking the buttermilk, then filter the buttermilk using a strainer and then serve. This way you can even give this to kids.
