Guacamole

Fresh and tasty guacamole is ready to be savored
I use avocado(butter fruit) for salads, sandwich, home made bean tortillas, chapati-avocado wrap, guacamole and so on.... Avocado is very good for heart and brain health. Instead of giving potato chips to my kids I give them baked corn chips with guacamole dip. No matter how much dip I make, we always end up short of it. That's how tasty the homemade fresh guacamole can be!

Preparation time: 15 min
Serving size - about 4
Difficulty : Easy

Ingredients
  • Avocado - 3 or 4 nos
  • Onion - 1/4( medium size)
  • Tomato - 1/4 (medium size)
  • Lime - 1
  • Garlic - 1 clove(optional)
  • Chat masala - 1/4 tsp(optional)
  • Coriander leaves - few strands
  • Salt - if needed

Preparation steps
  1. Finely chop the onion and tomato and set aside.
  2. Chop the onion, tomato, coriander, mince the garlic and squeeze the lime juice
  3. Grate the garlic clove and set aside.
  4. Squeeze the juice out of lemon and set aside.
  5. Cut the avocado vertically and horizontally and scoop the flesh out of the skin
  6. Slice the avocado into 2 halves. Take one half and cut through the flesh, vertically and horizontally without cutting the skin of the avocado(as shown).
  7. With a spoon, scoop the cut pieces out of the avocado skin. Repeat the same for the other half with the seed and for the remaining avocados.
  8. Mash the avocado with a vegetable masher.
  9. Add the chopped onion, tomato, grated garlic, chat masala, coriander(cilantro), salt if required and give it a mix. Since the chips that you eat with the guacamole may be salty, you can avoid the salt.
Mash the avocado, add the chopped ingredients, lime juice and give a good mix
  10. Add 1- 2 tsp of the lime juice and give it a nice mix. Lime juice is to give a tangy taste and also to make sure that the avocado does not change in color.
  11. Fresh guacamole is ready to be served.
